The first feature, currently available in early access is Pricebooks, our dedicated client billing tool. Read on to learn how Pricebooks can improve your billing management.

FASTER AND MORE ACCURATE CUSTOMER BILLING

PRICEBOOKS ACCURATE CUSTOMER BILLING

Pricebooks is a client billing tool that allows you to track, assign and markup the cost of AWS cloud resources used by your clients and customers, whether internal or external.

For Managed Service Providers (MSP’s) and Independent Software Vendors (ISV’s), Pricebooks will save time, while allowing you to be more precise and flexible in your customer billing activities.

You can create different Pricebooks to assign pricing rules to lists or categories of customers and their associated AWS cloud services.

Our case studies, MSP Joe Bloggs and SAAS ISV Idea Co, will show you how to apply Pricebooks to boost productivity and competitiveness.

CASE STUDY: MANAGED SERVICE PROVIDER, JOE BLOGGS

Joe Bloggs is an MSP, managing the cloud infrastructure of 30 customers. He groups his customers into 3 service tiers, Small, Medium and Large. Each tier has different pricing.

Before Pricebooks, Joe spent hours every month exporting raw usage data, then filtering the data and applying his markup using spreadsheets.

MSP, Joe Bloggs, creates 3 Pricebooks to match the 3 tiers of service he offers his customers.

With Pricebooks, Joe can assign each customer account to a Pricebook which automatically tracks the customer’s usage and applies Joe’s margin to the managed resource.

Joe is able to automatically apply a percentage markup on the various resources his customers use.

For Joe, Pricebooks means no more manual data entry, number crunching or billing errors. Joe is able to spend less time on cost reporting and more time adding value for his customers.

CASE STUDY: SAAS INDEPENDENT SOFTWARE VENDOR, IDEA CO

Idea Co provides Software as a Service to customers using a variety of traditional and cloud hosting options. Idea Co has traditionally required customers to host its software on their own infrastructure or opt for a managed hosting option.

Having recently moved to the AWS cloud, Idea Co is now able to provide customers with competitive and flexible hosting options utilizing the public cloud, however accurate assignment and billing of resources used by customers has proven to be time-consuming and ineffective.

With Pricebooks, Idea Co is now able to provide two distinct and competitive hosting options for its customers:

Transparent cost-plus

Charges the customer only for what they spend on hosting, plus a management fee.

  • Pricebooks manages billing by automatically applying Idea Co’s 15% fee to the customer’s monthly AWS cloud usage bill.
  • The software license is a separate item on the customer’s bill.

Bundled all inclusive

A bundled package, inclusive of hosting.

  • Pricebooks lets Idea Co monitor the exact cloud spend and customer retention cost of its customers to accurately calculate the profitability of its bundled offering.
  • Software license included as part of a single monthly fee.

Pricebooks gives Idea Co the ability to scale with flexible and competitive pricing models, whilst reducing the burden of managing its own infrastructure.
